“Trifles” by Susan Glaspell

            Trifles is a dramatic play where the way men treated women is the main focus. Men do not appreciate women; that’s what the play is all about and the things women do to free themselves. Three different women are introduced in this play. Mrs. Hale, a large, timid and comfortable looking woman, who was Mrs. Wright’s friend for a while but distanced herself because of Mrs. Wright household situation. Mrs. Hale thinks it was a justifiable crime. Mrs. Peters the sheriffs wife, she is a slight wiry woman, with a nervous face who lives by the law. After she found out about Mrs. Wright’s loss she bonds with her because she has lost someone important in her life too. Mrs. Wright’s, before she got married was a cheerful woman who wore colorful clothes and loved to sing. Mrs. Hale describes her as kind, sweet, pretty and timid. After Mrs. Wright got married, everything changed, she hides behind her apron and Spent most of her time in her cold kitchen. When they found, her she was sitting in her chair looking queer but happy at the same time. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peter were disturbed by what has happened in the house and as time passed and they realized how much Mrs. Wright was suffering; they sympathized with Mrs. Wright.
